Martino Old-Vine Clásico Semillon

About the Wine

Long ago a widely planted grape in Argentina, a number of old vine parcels of Semillon still exist. Semillon is a “white bordeaux” originally from Southwestern France.  It is often blended with Sauvignon Blanc but is an excellent grape in its own right, being lower in acidity to Sauvignon Blanc with attractive but subtle aromas.  As an early ripener the grape is well suited to Mendoza’s cooler climates. This bottling comes from single vineyard in Perdriel which is a warmer subdistrict. The warm climate here offers up a "flashier" example of the grape. Stainless steel fermentation and aging keep things focused.

Tasting Notes

Medium straw color. Lively nose with notes of lemon, pear, and golden fig. Bright on the palate, with plenty of citrus and some mineral flavors. Finishes with cleansing acidity.  A nice change from your regular Sauvignon Blanc wine but still within the family.  This white wine stands on its own but can easily be paired with a variety of foods and goes down smooth and easy.
