Montefiori Cabernet Sauvignon/Sangiovese

About the Wine:

75% Cabernet Sauvignon / 25% Sangiovese. A sensational wine from Mexico.  Currently, we are the only folks bringing a Mexican wine to Hawaii and this is a must try.  An Italian family living in Mexico blending two traditional Italian grapes with a sensational outcome.  Very pleasant and easy to drink. We know it will come as a surprise to all who have never tried a Mexican beer...I mean wine.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon / Sangiovese

Origin: Baja California, México | Appellation: Guadalupe Valley, Baja California

Elaboration: Estate grown grapes. Clay/sand soil. Vineyards planted 1998. Aged ten months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation in barrel. Unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Notes:

Big structure with good balance and vibrant acidity.  Silky tannins lead to hints of spices, licorice, and rose. Long finish.  A terrific pairing with spicy dry-cured meats.
