Jubileo Zapata Zinfandel

About the Wine

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest.  This is a tasty offering from Mexico.  The Guadalupe valley in Baja California owes much of its success to a small group of Russian pacifists who arrived in the region in 1905 with Zinfandel cuttings in hand. This 400 case bottling was crafted from a small parcel of old vine, dry farmed Zinfandel vines owned by Baja's famed Bibyoff family.

Tasting Notes

Purple color, opulent nose with classic Zinfandel aromas - think raspberry, blackberry, bramble, and baking spice. Savory on the palate, with excellent intensity, and layers of rich berry flavors. Finishes with zesty acidity, which really makes this wine work well when paired with tomato and pepper driven Mexican dishes.  No need to wait for Cinco de Mayo to open a bottle.
