Carlos Basso Dos Fincas Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot

About the Wine

The use of two separate vineyards in Argentina is a traditional practice to safeguard against the threat of hail.  For the Basso family, it also allows them to make a more interesting blend by combining the attributes of two distinct microclimates, hence the name “Dos Fincas.”  The dark, powerful fruit from their vineyard in San Carlos, matched with the softer, more nuanced fruit from their vineyard in Tunuyan, makes for this memorable yet very affordable wine.  A pleasent change from the Malbec wines when one is in the mood.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon 55% / Merlot 45%

Wine Type: Red Wine

Origin: Argentina

Appellation: San Carlos (Altamira) and Tunuyan, Mendoza

Tasting Notes

The Cabernet and Merlot work together seamlessly as the nose exudes raspberry and sweet leather.  Tastes warm and toasty, with ripe fruit softened by chocolate and pillowy tannins.  Argentine red at its affordable best.  A mellow, very drinkable wine.
