About the Wine

The use of two separate vineyards in Argentina is a traditional practice to safeguard against the threat of bad weather.  For the Basso family, it also allows them to experiment and to make interesting and tasteful blends by combining the attributes of two distinct microclimates.  As wine makers know, it is the soil and how it has been effected by nature that makes the flavor of the grape unique.  Here, the dark, powerful fruit from their vineyard in San Carlos, matched with the softer, more nuanced fruit from their vineyard in Tunuyan, makes for this memorable blend.  And hence the name “Dos Fincas.”

Varietal: Malbec

Wine Type: Red Wine

Origina: Argentina

Appellation: Swan Carlos (Altamira) and Tunuyan, Mendoza

Tasting Notes

Inky purple in color, with classic Malbec aromatics of dark plum, blackberry, and blueberry.  More layers of saturated berry fruit flavors and notes of cocoa fill out the palate, and the wine finishes incredibly soft considering its young age.  Some say it ends like a Pinot Noir.  If you’'re not looking for that full-bodied taste of the classic Malbec Reservado, but still want that gorgeous and robust Malbec flavor, try this variation.  You might just discover that you like both!
