2006 Carmelo Patti Sparkling

Extra Brut

About the Wine

Our newest Sparkling Brut addition (remember, we can’t call it Champagne or the French will go crazy), the Carmelo Patti Extra Brut joins the new version of the Carlos Basso Sparkling Brut (now made out of Malbec).  Winemaker Carmelo came to Argentina from Sicily when he was a one year old and was a catalyst for the rebirth of fine wine production in Mendoza in the eighties and is to this day one of the most respected enologists in the country.  Only small allotments of Carmelo Patti wines are released when Carmelo deems it “ready.”  This Sparkling Brut is produced through the calssi Metho Champenoise (fermentation in the bottle) from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.

Tasting Notes

The wine is light in color with salmon colored tones with golden twilights.  Lively aromas of tasted bread and honey are its characteristics nose; ripe fruit and a balanced acidity make this a well-structured wine in the mouth.  The combination of these qualities make this sparkling wine elegant and delicious.

Alcohol: 12.7%

We'd like to thank Pati O'Neal for allowing us to use her beautiful ocean painting as a backdrop for this photograph of the wine.  Pati is a gifted local artist.  Please visit her website at http://www.pationeal.com
