Carlos Basso Signature Blend

[Currently Unavailable]

About the Wine:

This blend, the Basso family's top bottling, has traditionally only been available within Argentina due to its limited supply.  Each year the blend is changed to create a new and unique taste.  The Basso family now releases, outside Argentina, a very small allocation each year which are sold in cases of six bottles (260 cases/year!).  This cuvee showcases the freshness and complexity of their best Malbec and Cabernet without the interference of excessive oak.  Note: “The term "cuvee"” refers to special blends or selected vats of higher quality wines.

Varietal: Malbec 50% / Cabernet Sauvignon 25% / Petit Verdot 15% /

               Syrah 10%

Wine Type: Red Wine

Origin: Argentina

Appellation: San Carlos (La Consulta) and Tunuyan, Mendoza

Elaboration: 14 months in new French and American oak

Tasting Notes:

Deep red violet color.  Complex blackberry, plum, and briar aromas with a touch of vanilla.  On the palate more saturated fruit flavors abound, with hints of fig and strawberry.  The tannins are supple and balanced.  Cleansing acidity makes this an excellent choice with food and a great candidate for long term cellaring.  A great sipping wine and excellent with any meal.
